An early morning general patrol shift turned into a rather involved police operation when the OPP received a report of a stolen vehicle travelling on Highway 401 in Lennox and Addington County.

At approximately 3:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2019, officers on general patrol with the Lennox and Addington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police received a report of a stolen vehicle.

The officers responded and found that the stolen vehicle was travelling eastbound on Highway 401 through Lennox and Addington County. Officers located the stolen vehicle and, with the help of a deflation device, were able to stop the vehicle just east of the Odessa exit on the highway. The lone driver was arrested on the scene.

As a result, the OPP have charged Sonny Simbert, 19, of Montreal with possession of property obtained by crime over $5000. Simbert was later released on a promise to appear with conditions, and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee later this month.
