OPP recover body of Kingston teen previously missing on Lower Beverley Lake

The search for a missing teen has ended tragically after members of the Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located his body on Lower Beverley Lake on Monday morning.

OPP say Brent Hennigar, an 18-year-old from Kingston, was one of two people who went out in a canoe on the lake on Sunday, May 31, 2020, while two others were on a paddle board nearby. According to a press release from the Leeds OPP, the 18-year-old went overboard, and did not resurface. The remaining three individuals were able to make it back to shore. The OPP responded to the call just after 2:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2020, and the search for the missing teen ended on Monday, Jun. 1, 2020 at around 11:00 a.m.

The Rideau Lakes Fire Department and the OPP Marine Unit assisted with the search of Lower Beverley Lake, which is located in Delta, within the Rideau Lakes Township. The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit were also notified and assisted with the search efforts.

The Coroner’s Office will continue to investigate the circumstances of this incident.
