A woman from Stone Mills Township is facing charges and a licence suspension after she was arrested by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) for impaired driving in both Kingston and South Frontenac Township.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020 when, at approximately 11:50 a.m., the Frontenac Detachment of the OPP received a complaint from a concerned motorist about a possible impaired driver headed northbound on Highway 38.

Less than five minutes later, the same vehicle was involved in a collision on Yarker Road in South Frontenac. At approximately 12:04 p.m., an OPP officer located the vehicle in the north side ditch of Yarker Road, against a tree.

As a result of the ensuing investigation, officers charged Sarah McCallum, 36, of Stone Mills Township with operating a motor vehicle when impaired by drug. McCallum’s licence was suspended, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. McCallum will be responsible for all related fees and fines.

McCallum was released on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston at a later date to answer to the charges.
