OPP carry out second day of ‘rapid deployment training’ in PEC

Members of the Prince Edward County (PEC) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will be carrying out “rapid deployment training” today, Thursday, Aug. 27. 2023.
The OPP announced in a press release that members of the public can expect to see an increased police presence in the Picton area of PEC as the training exercise takes place. There is no risk to public safety during the training, police said. This is the second rapid deployment training event this month in PEC, with a similar exercise having occurred two weeks earlier on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023. The OPP did not say where specifically the training will take place in the Picton area.
“The OPP is fully committed to public safety and continued training is key to keep our communities safe and Ontario secure. OPP will conduct immediate rapid deployment training today, allowing officers to train to respond to active threats in the community,” the PEC OPP said.
“By doing so, officers will be better equipped to protect the community we serve.”
