OPP asking for public assistance in homicide investigation

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are asking for the public’s assistance in relation to a recent homicide near Seeley’s Bay last week.

Leeds County OPP say that under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, they are working to develop a timeline of events leading up to the homicide that occurred at a residence on Highway 15 on Jun. 1, 2021, at about 4:30 a.m. A 44-year old male was located deceased at that location.

Jay Slade, 36 years old and of no fixed address has been arrested and is facing several charges including first degree murder, indignity to a dead body, and two counts of assault causing bodily harm.

OPP say the accused was last observed on foot, May 31, 2021, at approximately 8:20 a.m., on King Street in Delta. He is described as 175 cm (5’9″), 82 kg (180 pounds), medium build, with dark hair and a bushy beard. He was last seen wearing a blue hoody with a New England Patriots emblem, dark coloured sweat pants and light coloured shoes. A photo of the accused is attached. The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario (OCCO) and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS), the OPP Leeds County Crime Unit and East Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS).
