Two traffic complaints, on separate occasions, saw members of the Prince Edward County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) lay impaired driving charges on two drivers over the Easter weekend.

Shortly after 6 p.m. on Thursday, Apr. 14, 2022, OPP responded to a report of a traffic complaint on Picton Main Street. According to a release from the OPP, officers located the vehicle in Picton and the driver was subsequently arrested and taken back to the detachment for further testing.

Gregory Warren, age 28 from Thunder Bay, was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration

The second traffic complaint took place on Country Road 2, on Saturday, Apr. 16, 2022, and shortly after 1 p.m. members of the Prince Edward County OPP responded to the report. Officers located the vehicle and administered a standard field sobriety test, OPP said. As a result, the driver was subsequently arrested and taken back to the detachment for further testing.

Randy Puffer, age 38 from Trenton, was charged with the same offences as Warren, namely:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration

Both drivers were released on an undertaking and had their driver’s licences suspended for 90 days and vehicles impounded for a period of 7 days. They will both be responsible for all related fees and fines, and will appear, separately, before the Ontario Court of Justice in May 2022.
