OPP investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 7

A fatal two-vehicle collision on Highway 7 in Central Frontenac Township is under investigation by the Frontenac Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

At approximately 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, South Frontenac OPP officers, Central Frontenac Fire and Rescue, and Frontenac Paramedics responded to the head-on collision on Highway 7. 

According to a release from the OPP, the OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) attended to assist. OPP said that the initial investigation determined that the driver of a westbound vehicle experienced medical distress before crossing over into the eastbound lane where it struck another vehicle head-on. 

The driver of the westbound vehicle, Huong-Thi Tran, 76 years old from Ottawa, was airlifted to the hospital by Air Ornge with life-threatening injuries, OPP stated. According to the release, on Wednesday, Jun. 1, 2022, the individual was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

According to OPP, the other driver was transported to the hospital by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
