Online booking for COVID Assessment Centre delayed

The Assessment Center at the Beechgrove Complex began operating as appointment-only on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020 with online booking scheduled to be live today, Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020. The online tool for reserving a COVID-19 test has been delayed, according to a release from Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC) dated Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020.
KHSC say they are working to ensure the technology meets the privacy standards for health care and that it will allow parents to book appointments for children who meet the testing criteria.
In addition, KHSC is finalizing a telephone booking option for those who do not have access to a computer or smartphone, according to the release.
While they finalize the online and telephone booking options, KHSC will continue to use a manual appointment system that calls for people to be briefly screened upon arrival at the Community AC and assigned an appointment time, allowing them to leave and return.
People seeking a COVID-19 test must meet the criteria under the guidelines issued recently by the Province of Ontario and should first complete the online assessment to ensure they require testing.
The Community AC continues to operate seven days a week, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
