On Sunday, Oct. 30, 2022, the Odessa Agricultural Society and Loyalist Township are teaming up to co-host a Halloween event for families.

According to a release from Loyalist Township, the fun will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Odessa Fairgrounds located at 231 Main Street, Odessa. All activities will be free of charge.

Organizers said that the Odessa Agricultural Society will be hosting their traditional festive activities inside the Palace which will include Halloween games, crafts, face painting, and a poster contest. The popular costume parade will take place at 2:30 p.m.

“New this year, guests are invited to head outside and take a stroll through the Trunk-or-Treat area hosted by Loyalist Township. Families and children can enjoy the tradition of trick-or-treating in a spook-free, safe, and accessible environment,” the Township stated. “There will also be a photo booth and music thanks to our sponsor, Stage One Real Estate Team.”

According to the release, the Trunk-or-Treat portion of the event will be held outside, rain or shine and is an accessible event for everybody to enjoy. Local businesses and organizations will be bringing their vehicles of all shapes and sizes and have them set up and decorated along the path. The Township said that staff and volunteers will be at their vehicles handing out treats to Trunk-or-Treaters with some fun and games along the way.

Everyone is encouraged to dress up in their favourite costume and bring something to collect their treats in. According to the Township, the goal is to have each child leave with treats and memories of a fantastic Halloween. Organizers note that participating vehicles will be for display only and children will not be permitted to enter the vehicles.

“Loyalist Township is proudly working in collaboration with the Lennox & Addington Joint Accessibility Advisory Committee and Treat Accessibility to ensure the event is accessible and inclusive for everyBODY!” organizers shared, noting that all vehicles must be pre-registered prior to the event.
