Kingston Police say they have investigated, and are requesting that the public remove any social posts related to, an incident at a park that was widely shared in Kingston-area social media circles this week.

“On the evening of Thursday, Jun. 6, 2024 a male was observed approaching a young girl in the splash pad area of the park located at Crossfield Av and Augusta Dr,” Kingston Police explained in a press release on Saturday, Jun. 8, 2024.

“This of course was concerning for the child and the parent, who reported the incident to Kingston Police. A photo of this male subsequently circulated online. That individual has been identified and interviewed by a detective,” police continued.

“As a result of an investigation by the Criminal Investigation Division, the Kingston Police would like to report the intentions of this individual were not believed to have been harmful in any way, and there is no concern for public safety at this time,” Kingston Police said.

“Therefore, in fairness to the individual, police are requesting the public remove any social posts referring to this incident. The involved family has been updated on the situation.”
