New engagement platform ready for Napanee’s 2022 Budget Public Consultation Session

The Town of Greater Napanee has launched ‘Let’s Talk Greater Napanee,’ its new community engagement platform provided through Bang the Table Engagement HQ.
‘Let’s Talk Greater Napanee’ is an online space for the Greater Napanee community to share ideas, discuss important topics, provide feedback on upcoming projects, policies and planning, and contribute to the future of Greater Napanee, according to a release from the town, dated Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021.
Residents are encouraged to visit the platform at: https://letstalkgreaternapanee.ca to register an account and begin engaging with municipal staff and other members of the community. ‘Let’s Talk Greater Napanee’ is also accessible to access through the Town’s website.
The first engagement opportunity residents have available via ‘Let’s Talk Greater Napanee’ is the upcoming 2022 Budget Public Consultation Session. The Town’s budget process changed for 2021. The new process included a long-term view for the budget to identify potential efficiencies, revenues and to provide information in advance of changes, according to the release. The 2022 budget process sees the addition of consultation to add a direct public vote to the budget conversation.
About the 2022 Budget Public Consultation Session:
The Town of Greater Napanee would like to engage with its residents before the 2022-2025 budget process, according to the release. The Town said the goal of this engagement session is to provide information on property taxes, the budget process and, to seek input from the public before “pen is put to paper” in the Town budget process. This is a new initiative by Council and staff to complement the recent change to longer-term budgeting.
The Budget Public Consultation Session will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021 from 7 to 9 p.m. online via Zoom. Visit ‘Let’s Talk Greater Napanee’ at https://letstalkgreaternapanee.ca to register for this Zoom meeting.
The Town said residents are encouraged to visit ‘Let’s Talk Greater Napanee’ before the meeting date to participate in a budget quick poll, and to submit any questions they have about the budget process. Town staff will be providing answers to these submitted questions during the live-streamed Consultation Session, according to the release.
The Town said it strives to be as open and transparent as possible. The addition, the ‘Let’s Talk Greater Napanee’ community engagement platform will provide staff and residents with more accessible two-way communication in a way social media cannot provide, according to the release. Registering an account through ‘Let’s Talk Greater Napanee’ will help residents stay informed and have their say on upcoming future decision-making processes.
