New Empire Design Build Breaks Ground for New Development

The Kingston Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) is pleased to announce that New Empire Design Build Contractors Ltd. are expanding their developments in the City’s west end.

New Empire Contractors broke ground today for Empire Court, a 128,750 square foot office, restaurant, service, light industrial and showroom space at the corner of Gardiners Road and Fortune Crescent. Zoning will allow for a broad range of uses including offices, warehouses, clinics, banks, restaurants, commercial clubs, veterinary clinics, coffee/bakery shops, showroom and accessory retail. Two phases of building will take place beginning with multi-tenanted showroom, light industrial and restaurant space followed by a five story, 55,000 square foot office tower. Construction will begin in June.

New Empire Design Build’s first involvement in Kingston was the construction of the $23-million, 215,000 square foot building in 2005 for Lyreco Canada Inc. Frank Casamatta and Dominic Tersigni, owners of New Empire Contractors then decided to develop The Empire Centre in the St. Lawrence Business Park entirely on spec in 2008. This success prompted New Empire Contractors to undertake further developments in Kingston and led to the purchase of lots within both the St. Lawrence and Cataraqui Estates Business Parks.

Jeff Garrah, Chief Executive Officer for KEDCO says, “New Empire is a great company to work with. They have a strong vision for future developments which augment the City’s available property inventory and also create employment opportunities within the City as new businesses relocate.”

New Empire Contractors is a general contracting company specializing in custom building design, general contracting, and the management of commercial and industrial condominiums.
