Napanee, Tyendinaga residents among seven arrested in Belleville drug bust

Seven people were arrested and charged after officers with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant in Belleville.

Of the seven people charged, two are from Belleville, one is from Milton, one is from Cannifton, one is from Napanee, and two are from Tyendinaga, according to a press release issued by the OPP on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024.

The OPP said that the search warrant was executed on Airport Parkway in Belleville by members of the East Region Community Street Crime Unit on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024. The seven people were located at the address and arrested, before being transported to the Lennox and Addington County Detachment of the OPP in Napanee. According to the press release, police seized the following:

  • 127 grams of suspected cocaine
  • One gram of suspected fentanyl
  • One gram of suspected methamphetamine
  • $500 in Canadian currency
  • Scales

As a result, the following people have been charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine:

  • 38-year-old Garrett Jackson of Belleville
  • 34-year-old Sarah-Jane Irwin of Belleville
  • 25-year-old Tawahennake Hill of Tyendinaga
  • 35-year-old Joshua Gjelstad of Napanee
  • 23-year-old Aidan George of Milton
  • 40-year-old Nicole Burshaw of Cannifton
  • 43-year-old Amanda Holland of Tyendinaga

Police said that Holland was additionally charged with four counts of failure to comply with a probation order, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime with a value under $5,000.

According to police, all seven of the accused people were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville next month.
