Napanee traffic stop leads to arrest of four people

Four individuals are facing charges after a traffic stop on Highway 401 eastbound near Greater Napanee.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 10, 2020, officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on 401 eastbound near Greater Napanee. According to a report from the OPP, dated Friday Dec. 11, 2020, police initiated a traffic stop and determined that cannabis was readily available to the driver. OPP say the vehicle was searched and the four occupants were subsequently arrested and transported to L&A County Detachment for processing.

Police seized Cocaine, Cannabis, Cell phones, stolen credit cards, computers, and other electronic devices.

As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have laid the following charges:

Ryan Belaidi, age 18, of Repentigny Quebec with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under 5000.00
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (cocaine)
  • Stunt Driving

Oussama Bourhzal, age 21, of Repentigny Quebec with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under 5000.00
  • Two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Credit Card
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (cocaine)

Elias, El Azhari, age 20 and Wassim El Harit, age 20 both of Repentigny Quebec with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over 5000.00
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking (cocaine)

All of the accused were released on an undertaking and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in February 2021.
