Napanee resident charged with impaired driving

A traffic stop in Greater Napanee led to impaired driving charges for a Napanee resident.
Just after 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023, officers from the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Napanee.
According to a release from the OPP, as part of an investigation, an Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.
Gary Rhydwen, 65 years old, of Napanee, Ontario, was charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit
- Operating a motor vehicle while impaired – alcohol and drugs
OPP said that Rhydwen was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee later this month. His licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
