Murdoch Mysteries season premiere had Kingston masquerading as Montreal

Anyone who tuned in to the season 15 Premier of Murdoch Mysteries last night on CBC got an eyeful of Kingston scenery. Scenes for the popular detective series were filmed locally in May, though the public was discouraged from attending the locations due to the ongoing restrictions and safety protocols related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the time of filming, the Kingston Film Office requested that specific locations be omitted from news coverage of the event. Shaftsbury Films, the production company behind the long-running series, had sent a notice to some residents in the historical downtown area regarding filming, which took place in the area on Thursday, Jun. 3, 2021. Crews spent four days in Kingston, and the results can be seen in the first two episodes of the current season. “The Things We Do For Love – Part 1” aired on Monday, Sept 13, 2021, and Part 2 will air on Monday, Sept. 27. On September 20, 2021 regular programming will not be airing on CBC in favour of election coverage.
Market Square featured heavily, though the storyline had Kingston disguised as Montreal. Detective Murdoch spent a lot of time around City Hall, and Tara Natural Foods was on clear display, for those savvy enough to recognize the storefront and awning. Hochelaga Inn, at 24 Sydenham Street also supported a separate storyline in the episode. Detective Watts and Ms. Hart, the coroner, spent some time on the grounds while investigating another case.

At the conclusion of the episode, Detective Murdoch was still in Montreal, which would lead some to assume that the Part 2 will feature scenes filmed in Kingston, as well.
