Update – Body located: Murder charge laid in Sharbot Lake missing person case

Frontenac Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment members say they have arrested and charged an individual in connection with the disappearance of Kevin Camilleri. Camilleri had last been seen on Nov. 9, 2023, in the Sharbot Lake area.

“An investigation began on November 16, 2023, after Kevin Camilleri was reported missing,” OPP said in a press release regarding the case. “As a result of the investigation, Sebastian Johnston, age 29 from Central Frontenac Township, has been arrested and charged with first degree murder.”

According to OPP, the accused remains in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston on Dec. 7, 2023.

The investigation continues, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

Update (Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023):

On the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2023, the OPP released an updated statement confirming that members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Frontenac Detachment Crime Unit, with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), have located Kevin Camilleri’s body.

According to the updated statement, the investigation continues under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

In response to Kingstonist inquiries as to where the body was located, OPP Constable Robert Martell stated that the investigation is still very much ongoing and extensive.

“The OPP cannot release any details of this investigation pertaining to location, address or landscape, in relation to the deceased person being located. It was in the Central Frontenac Township near Sharbot Lake,” he shared in an email.
