Multi vehicle collision in Napanee ends with act of kindness
A multi vehicle accident in Greater Napanee resulted in charges for a female from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory, and an act of kindness from the Greater Napanee Emergency Services.
At approximately 12:45 p.m. on March 30, 2021, officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Lennox and Addington Pararmedics, and the Greater Napanee Fire Department responded to a report of a multiple vehicle collision at the intersection of Alkenbrack Street and Centre Street in Greater Napanee.
Investigation revealed that a southbound pickup truck proceeded through a red light on Centre Street and collided with another vehicle, according to a release from OPP, dated Wednesday, Mar. 31, 2021. The truck then drove over the center median and collided with three other vehicles. OPP say several people were treated by paramedics and taken to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was uninjured.
A 29 year old woman from Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory has been charged with careless driving.
And while the collision caused delays, damages, and commotion, it also caused a little act of kindness that saw Napanee Emergency Services pick up a grocery order for one of the injured drivers.
“Customer Service. During the accident today the crew suggested that we take care of the groceries of the injured driver. Service above and beyond. Groceries just picked up. GREAT JOB!” Greater Napanee Deputy Fire Chief Bill Hammond expressed in a tweet, which included photos of the groceries the officers picked up on the driver’s behalf.
