MNR fighting large forest fire near Stone Mills

The Ministry of Natural Resources is currently fighting a large forest fire near Stone Mills Township, north of Napanee.
On June 20, 2020, Stone Mills Fire was notified of a fire in a remote location northeast of the Clare River, said Jeff Thompson, Township of Stone Mills Fire Chief, in a press release. At that time, the fire was approximately five hectares in size.
Stone Mills Fire responded and as it was determined that the fire was on Crown land, the Ministry of Natural Resources was notified to conduct a response.

By the morning of Sunday, June 21, the fire had grown to 18.7 hectares in size.
Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry continue to battle the fire, and Stone Mills Township Fire Department remains on alert, offering assistance as necessary.
According to Thompson, no injuries or damage to personal property has been reported due to the fire at this time.
