Missing person located deceased in Sydenham

A large contingent of the Frontenac detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) searched a large field at a Sydenham address on Friday, May 12, 2023 in relation to a missing person.

“Information provided to police was that a male in his twenties had been missing since Thursday, 11 May 2023,” OPP confirmed in a press release following Kingstonist inquiries about the OPP presence.

“Frontenac OPP officers, with the assistance of OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members were involved in the search in the Sydenham area and the male was located deceased,” OPP said. Police are not considering the death suspicious.

OPP confirmed that this search was not related to the death involving a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in the vicinity earlier in the week.

OPP said the identity of the deceased will not be released.
