Millhaven Institution on lockdown

Millhaven Institution is currently on lockdown as staff members conduct an exception search of the maximum security federal institution.

The lockdown was put in place at approximately 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018. The search was ordered to ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff, and inmates, according to a press release from Correctional Service Canada (CSC).

Normal operations will resume as soon as it is considered safe to do so, CSC said. Regularly scheduled visits may be affected, so visitors who have planned visits are asked to contact the Institution directly.
