Memorial Centre Aqua Park to reopen with restrictions

The City of Kingston’s Outdoor Aqua Park at 303 York St. will open next week with new COVID-19 precautions in place.

The facility, situated adjacent to the Memorial Centre, includes a 25-metre lane pool, a leisure pool, and splash pad spray features. The City said it will be open daily for casual use as of Monday, Jul. 6.

As a safety measure during the COVID-19 pandemic, the water slide, diving board and lazy river will not be opened, in accordance with provincial Stage 2 reopening regulations.

Other safety measures will include timed entry sessions on a drop-in basis, signage to remind people to practice physical distancing, significantly reduced numbers of people allowed in at once, and increased cleaning and sanitation between sessions.

The City notes that staff are exploring aquatic programming options for all ages and abilities, including for leisure, parent and tot, family and lane swimming and aqua fitness classes. More details about specific aquatic programs, operating hours and admission will be available on the City’s website by Jul. 6.

“Pool patrons can expect a fun and safe experience when they visit the Outdoor Aqua Park this summer,” said a statement from the City of Kingston. Kingston residents can review details and plan a visit to the Outdoor Aqua Park at CityofKingston.ca/WaterPark.
