The medium security unit at Collins Bay Institution has been placed on lockdown to allow for an exceptional search to take place, according to Correctional Service Canada (CSC).
The lockdown was put in place on Monday, Jul. 29. 2019 at approximately 12:23 p.m. to allow staff members to conduct the search.
“The search was ordered to ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff and inmates. Normal operations will resume as soon as it is considered safe to do so,” CSC said in a press release.
All visits to the Institution have been suspended, and those that have already planned a visit are asked to contact the Institution directly.
