Man succumbs to injuries in hospital after Russell Street fire

Kingston Police have stated that an individual, who was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries after a fire on Russell Street earlier this month, has succumbed to his injuries.
On the morning of Tuesday, Jun. 6, 2023, the fire, which created heavy smoke and flames visibly extending out of the back of the residence, was knocked down relatively quickly by Kingston Fire & Rescue crews, as Frontenac Paramedics attended to and transported the patient to hospital.
Kingston Police said that the identity of the 52-year-old local man is not being released at this time.
According to a media release from Kingston Police dated Friday, Jun. 23, 2023, this investigation is still ongoing with the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall however, no charges are anticipated at this time. The cause of this fire will be undetermined until the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshall provides a final report at the conclusion of their investigation, police said.
