Man swinging knife on Montreal Street charged with assault

A man is facing assault charges after threatening another man with a knife.
At approximately 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, the accused male was observed by witnesses outside a residence at Montreal Street near Raglan Road initially yelling at the victim, a 42-year-old man, according to Kingston Police.
The argument continued and the accused was seen pulling a large knife out from his clothes and began swinging it in a threatening manner in the direction of the victim, but, police say, no contact was made and the victim was not harmed.


When police arrived on scene, the male suspect fled into the Montreal Street residence and a search of the building found him hiding behind a bed. He was arrested without incident and is facing charges of assault with a weapon and weapons dangerous to public peace.
The accused was transported to police headquarters where he was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.
