Kingston Police are continuing to investigate after a young man of no fixed address was arrested over the weekend.

At approximately 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, officers responded to a suspicious activity call on Ellerbeck Street, where they met a man dressed in dark clothing carrying a bag over his shoulder. When officers questioned him, the man said the bag and its contents belonged to him, however officers found sports equipment and a pair of women’s shoes in the bag upon inspection. Further investigation found that the property belonged to a woman on Alwington Avenue.

The 27-year-old man was arrested and is charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

The investigation won’t end there, however, as Kingston Police found a number of stolen and suspicious items in a bag the man was carrying which actually did belong to him. Those items include numerous pieces of identification and credit cards, all belonging to other people. Additionally, the bag contained other items police believe to be stolen, including sunglasses, cell phones, and a tool kit.

Kingston Police Criminal Investigation Division will continue the investigation.
