Man arrested following fatal hit-and-run

Investigators from Kingston Police have arrested a 75-year-old Brockville man who is believed to be the driver of a van which was involved in the fatal collision with a pedestrian on Highway 2 just west of Joyceville Side Rd.
At approximately 7:40 a.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019 a 50-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a person driving a white Chevrolet cargo van. The driver failed to remain on scene and the woman was later pronounced dead at Kingston General Hospital.
That same day at 3:15 p.m., Kingston Police detectives located and arrested the accused in Brockville. He was transported to the Kingston Police station and held overnight in cells to attend a bail hearing the following day, after which he was further remanded into custody.
He is facing charges of Dangerous Driving Causing Death and Failing to Remain Causing Death. The involved van was also located in the Brockville area and after a search warrant was executed it was seized by police for further examination.
