Man arrested after stabbing in downtown Kingston

A Kingston man has been arrested and charged following a stabbing that occurred downtown on Monday, Feb. 11, 2019.

The accused man attended a residence on South Bartlett Street at approximately 10 a.m. that day to speak with his former roommate, a woman. According to Kingston Police, the accused man was acting irrationally while speaking with the ex-roommate at the front door of the residence, so she returned inside. The woman’s current roommate, a man, exited the residence several minutes later and was confronted by the accused man, who then brandished a knife and proceeded to stab the victim in the stomach. Several witnesses nearby rushed to assist the victim and subdue the accused until police arrived.

Upon arrival, police arrested the accused. The 57-year-old man was charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

The victim was taken to Kingston General Hospital with minor injuries.
