Male arrested after domestic assault leads to injuries

Approximately nine Kingston Police cruisers descended on the downtown core after a domestic dispute turned violent.

Kingston Police were called to the historic Belvedere Hotel on King Street East at approximately 2:10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 18, 2021. Responding officers located the female victim of the domestic incident, who was found to have “significant injuries to her face,” according to Const. Ash Gutheinz, Media Relations Officer for Kingston Police.

The victim was transported to Kingston General Hospital by Frontenac Paramedic Services for further examination and treatment. Kingston Police combed the area for any additional evidence, and, at approximately 2:25 a.m., the male suspect was arrested and taken to Kingston Police Headquarters to await a bail hearing.

The 38-year-old man was charged with assault causing bodily harm and three counts of failure to comply with a release order.
