Doors will be open throughout Loyalist Township on Saturday, Jun. 17, 2023. As part of Doors Open Ontario, 17 properties across the township will be open for the public to explore and experience.
According to a release from the township, visitors will be able to get a sneak peek inside the historic Babcock Mill which will officially be open to the public in July.
There are historical experiences aplenty on offer at this year’s Doors Open event, the township noted. Explore Bath’s history at the Bath Museum, experience the unique architecture of Layer Cake Hall, learn the History of the Neilson Store on Amherst Island, or immerse yourself in Loyalist history at the Fairfield House in Amherstview.
Doors Open in Loyalist promises more than a walk-through history, however. The township invites everyone to visit the Amherstview Firehall to get a glimpse into the work of Loyalist Township Fire and Emergency Services, and head on over to Amherst Island for an agricultural experience at Topsy Farms. When all this touring, exploring, and learning has made you hungry, why not stop in at the Wilton Cheese Factory and savour some squeaky curds?
Doors Open Ontario is a province-wide celebration that provides a unique opportunity to explore and enjoy sometimes hidden and always interesting places and spaces in communities across Ontario – all free of charge!
According to the release, Loyalist Township is excited to participate and host a Doors Open Event this weekend. The doors will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. “Come and spend the day discovering some local history first-hand and celebrate our community’s heritage,” the township stated.
