UPDATE: Loyalist Township advises that they received about 90 offers of assistance this morning and have now filled all available spots. The organizers wish to thank all who inquired.

ORIGINAL: Loyalist Township has been asked by the KFL&A Public Health Unit to rally interested members of the community to assist the health unit with the non-clinical set-up, running and tear down of a COVID-19 immunization site being set up at the WJ Henderson Recreation Centre, in Amherstview. The immunization site, which is being coordinated by the Loyalist Family Health Team, will require about 22 volunteers. The requirements are:

-18 years and older

-Available April 6 and/or April 27th

-Able to stand/walk for 4-5 hours at a time

-Available for training on April 2nd or 3rd (to be confirmed)

WSIB coverage will be provided for those assisting. Those interested in participating may contact Hilary Fennell, Community Development Coordinator at Loyalist Township, at [email protected], providing full name and contact information of any interested parties. According to Fennell, 22 people will be required for each day.
“We’re really pleased that we will be able to accommodate this service in the community so that Loyalist residents can be immunized in their own backyard,” said Fennell.
