Lowe’s Kingston confirms positive COVID-19 case among staff

The Lowe’s location in Kingston’s west end is urging recent customers to monitor their symptoms after confirming that a staff member there tested positive for COVID-19.
According to Lowe’s Canada, the company was informed of the positive case among its staff at the 1035 Gardiners Road location on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020. That staff member last worked at the location on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020.
“We are taking the situation very seriously. To protect the health and safety of our associates and customers, we proceeded to an extensive cleaning and disinfecting of the premises on December 9 after closing the store,” Lowe’s Canada said in a public Facebook post.
Lowe’s said those actions were in addition to the enhanced disinfecting measures already in place, and that all staff members who’ve been identified as close contacts of the infected staff member are currently on “preventive paid quarantine” at home. The store reopened today, Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, and has been in contact with KFL&A Public Health regarding the situation.
Lowe’s is encouraging anyone who visited the store on Thursday, Nov. 26, between Tuesday, Dec. 1 to Thursday, Dec. 3 inclusive, or on Monday, Dec. 7 to monitor for symptoms until Monday, Dec. 21, 2020 inclusive (if they visited the store on Monday, Dec. 7), and to call Telehealth Ontario at 1-866-797-0000 if needed.
