In order for staff to complete an exceptional search, a lockdown has been put in place at Millhaven Institution, according to Correctional Service Canada (CSC).
The maximum security institution was placed on lockdown at approximately 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, 2019, CSC said in a press release on Thursday, May. 2, 2019, and staff began an exceptional search of the facility.
“The search was ordered to ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff and inmates. Normal operations will resume as soon as it is considered safe to do so,” CSC said.
Regularly scheduled visits may be affected. Visitors who have already planned a visit are asked to contact the Institution directly.
