In order for staff to conduct an exceptional search, a lockdown has been put in at Collins Bay Institution.
The lockdown began at approximately 7 a.m. on Friday, Mar. 8, 2019, at the medium security unit of the Institution, according to Correctional Services Canada (CSC).
“The search was ordered to ensure the safety and security of the institution, its staff and inmates. Normal operations will resume as soon as it is considered safe to do so,” CSC said in a press release the same day.
Regularly scheduled visits to the Institution may be affected. Visitors who have already planned a visit are asked to contact the Institution directly.
