Lockdown ended at Collins Bay Institution

The lockdown a both the maximum and medium security units at Collins Bay Institution has ended, following the completion of an exceptional search.

The units were placed on lockdown on Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, and visits to the institution were suspended. As a result of the search, a number of unauthorized and contraband items were found, according to a press release from Correctional Service Canada (CSC). CSC did not expand on what types of unauthorized and contraband items were found.

Visits to the institution have now resumed.
