Lockdown and search ended at Millhaven Institution
The lockdown and exceptional search at Millhaven Institution has ended, according to Correctional Service Canada (CSC).
The lockdown was put in place on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018 and an exceptional search of the facility was conducted. The search turned up “a number of unauthorized items,” according to a press release from CSC, but Vicki Liscumb, acting assistant warden of management services for Millhaven Institution said she was unable to expand on what those items were.
The Institution has resumed regular operations, and visits to the Institution have resumed.
CSC reminds the public it is strengthening measures to prevent the entry of contraband into its institutions in order to ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone. CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to have contraband brought into correctional institutions.
