Lockdown and search at Joyceville Institution Assessment Unit

The Assessment Unit at Joyceville Institution is currently on lockdown to allow for a search to take place.

Correctional Service Canada stated that the lockdown was put in place on Friday, Jul. 5, 2019, at about 11 a.m.

The assessment unit was locked down in order to enable staff members to conduct an exceptional search to ensure the safety and security of the institution, staff, and inmates.

According to Correctional Services Canada, normal operations will resume as soon as it is considered safe to do so.

Visits have been suspended until the search is completed.
