Local youth arrested and charged after breaking into vehicles in Woodhaven

In the early hours of Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, Kingston Police arrested a youth after reports of two suspects attempting to break into vehicles in the area of Iris Drive and Escala Crescent.

According to a release from Kingston Police, at approximately 3:45 a.m., members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division responded to the report and located one of the suspects. Police said the second suspect had fled the area.

Officers initiated an investigation and subsequently placed the suspect under arrest.

Police said it is believed the suspects entered several vehicles in the area as the arrested individual was found to be in possession of various pieces of personal identification belonging to numerous individuals.

A 16-year-old local youth was arrested and charged with three counts of theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime. The youth was transported to Kingston Police Headquarters where they were held for a bail hearing.

Anyone residing in the Woodhaven area who believes that their vehicle may have been entered overnight is asked to contact the Kingston Police at 613-549-4660 ext. “0” to file a report.
