A 30-year-old Kingston woman has been arrested and charged following a series of events that took place on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., a resident returned to their Avenue Road residence to find a suspicious woman leaving his building. The woman was carrying a bag and, when he questioned her, she seemed to be making up her story. The resident became wary of the woman and took her picture with his phone.

A couple of hours later, the resident learned that some clothing was stolen from a unit in the building. Kingston Police were called and the responding officer was shown the photo of the suspicious woman.

Later still, Police were called to the Knights Inn motel on Princess Street at approximately 9:45 p.m. Police determined that the disturbance was caused by the same woman suspected of the earlier theft on Avenue Road. When the responding officer went to arrest the woman, she fought back and bit his arm.

The woman was taken into custody and held for a bail hearing. She was charged with unlawfully being in a dwelling, theft, and assaulting a police officer. The officer was treated for minor injuries.
