Local poets wanted for KFPL Poet Laureate Mentorship sessions

Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL) is looking for six emerging or practicing poets aged 14 or older who are interested in an hour-long one-on-one mentorship session this December with Kingston Poet Laureate Jason Heroux.
If that describes you, KFPL asks you to please submit a sample of your poetry (from five to 12 pages in length) to [email protected]. Don’t forget to include your full name and your contact information with your submission. To be eligible, your submission must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021.
Those without an email address may submit their verse as a print-out or typescript at any branch of Kingston Frontenac Public Library, marked to the attention of Poet Laureate Jason Heroux, c/o Isabel Turner Branch.
The six mentorship sessions will take place via Zoom at the following times:
• Thursday, December 2 at 7 p.m.
• Saturday, December 4 at 2 p.m.
• Tuesday, December 7 at 7 p.m.
• Thursday, December 9 at 7 p.m.
• Saturday, December 11 at 2 p.m.
• Tuesday, December 14 at 7 p.m.
When submitting your poetry, the library asks that you list which of these six sessions you’d be able to attend, ranked in order of preference. KFPL says Heroux will review all the submissions and will schedule one-on-one meetings with six poets. During the hour he will go over your work and offer both feedback and possible next steps.
