Local man charged after unprovoked assault

Kingston police have charged a local man with assault after he punched a woman in the head out of the blue.

While the victim was sitting on the steps of Montreal Street address on Saturday, May 4, 2019, the accused man approached the her with his dog. Although familiar with each other, there was no interaction. Then, accused suddenly punched the victim in the back of the head before walked away.

The victim noticed that she was bleeding, police were called, and the victim was taken to hospital.

The accused man was located at an address on Russell Street at arrested at approximately 7:45 a.m. the following day. The 45-year-old local man was transported to police headquarters and held to attend a bail hearing. He was charged with assault.
