Local man arrested after approaching paramedics with a knife

A 51-year-old local man is facing charges paramedics responding to a call were confronted by a man holding a knife.

On Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018 at approximately 9 p.m., Frontenac Paramedics responded to a medical call at the Knights Inn on Princess Street in Kingston’s west end. When the paramedics were in the hallway, the accused male approached them while holding a knife. In response, the paramedics activated their emergency alarm and fled the building, as the accused continued to act in a threatening manner.

Responding Kingston Police officers found the accused man when he emerged from a unit on the second floor of the building. The man was arrested and, during a search, a switchblade was found.

The Kingston man is charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unlicensed possession of a prohibited weapon, and harassment by threatening conduct.
