Local man and woman arrested after shoplifting at Canadian Tire

A Kingston man and woman were both arrested after concealing items and exiting the Canadian Tire at the Kingston Centre with no attempt to pay. The accused woman was also found to be in breach of court imposed conditions.

At approximately 6:35 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, the accused man and woman were observed entering Canadian Tire at the Kingston Centre.

According to Kingston Police, store security recognized the pair from previous dealings and observed both of them select various merchandise and concealed the items in their pockets and purse. Both parties then proceeded past the front cash area and exited the store without making any attempt to pay.

Store security approached the pair outside the store and placed them under arrest for the theft.

Police responded at approximately 7:15 p.m. and arrested both accused parties. Further investigation found that the woman was also breaching court imposed conditions.

The accused man was released on an appearance notice to appear in court at a later date. The female accused was transported to police headquarters where she was held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

The 44-year-old local woman was charged with theft under $5,000, and breach recognizance. The 43-year-old local man was charged with theft under $5,000.
