Local gymnasts help secure gold medal for Team Ontario

Trillium Gymnastics Club here is Kingston has extra cause for celebration at the start of the new year, as two of their gymnasts represented the province on Team Ontario at an international gymnastics competition earlier this month.
The California Grand Invitational in Anaheim, California took place from Friday, Jan. 3 to Sunday, Jan. 5, 2020, and saw teams from across North America compete in gymnastics levels 2 through 10. Trillium’s own Alex Duggan and Daley Clarke, who had previously qualified for Team Ontario, represented the province at the level 6 competition. And their efforts were rewarded as Team Ontario placed first in that level, bringing home the gold medals.
“Trillium Gymnastics is proud to announce that Daley Clarke and Alex Duggan’s outstanding performances have helped earn Team Ontario Level 6 the Gold medal at the California Grand Invitational in Anaheim California,” Trillium Gymnastics said in a press release.
Apart from placing first overall with their team, Duggan and Clarke achieved some incredible results as individual athletes, as well.
Daley Clarke (Level 6-A) achieved a bronze medal all around standing, as well as:
- 3rd on Beam
- 2nd on Floor
- 2nd on Bars
- 4th on Vault
Alex Duggan (Level 6-B) also achieved a bronze medal all around standing, as well as:
- 1st on Beam
- 3rd on Floor
- 10th on Bars
- 6th on Vault
Beyond that, the girls were able to get out and enjoy the California sunshine with their Ontario teammates, while the winter remained in full effect back home.
“Congratulations girls! We are very proud of you and your accomplishments. We wish you continued success in the remaining competitive season,” Trillium Gymnastics Club said.
