LDSB reports one COVID-19 case at École Sir John A. Macdonald

Limestone District School Board (LSDB) has reported one case of COVID-19 at École Sir John A. Macdonald Public School.
According to the school board, KFL&A Public Health has been notified that one student at the school tested positive for COVID-19 today, Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021.
“It has been determined that this case poses no risk to students or staff,” LDSB said in a statement released on the same date. “As such, no cohorts will be required to isolate at this time. The school will remain open.”
Instances when a positive case in a school setting poses no risk to the school include:
- The case(s) is learning or teaching virtually and has not been in the school.
- The case(s) was already isolating and not attending school because they were previously identified as a close contact of a case.
- The case(s) was not present at the school when they were infectious.
LDSB said KFL&A Public Health and the school are taking all necessary steps to prevent further spread of the virus both in school and the community.
Cases in schools must be reported locally and provincially. The school board says they are sharing this information to ensure the public has accurate information. No further information will be released to maintain privacy.
