Larry Gibson Estate Fund to match donations for local Seniors Association

Every fall, the Seniors Association Kingston Region launches their annual fundraising campaign, appealing for donations to support the programs and services the organization provides for seniors in our community.
This fall, the Association’s fundraising campaign ‘Help Keep Us Strong’ has already received an incredible boost, thanks to the Larry Gibson Estate Fund. The Fund has pledged to match donations to this year’s fundraising campaign up to $35,000.
“The trustees of the Fund, Graeme Fraser and Jay Rayner, reviewed our operations, activities, and services and realized how closely the Association aligns with the objectives of the Larry Gibson Fund,” said Don Amos, Executive Director of Seniors Association Kingston Region. “Accordingly, this year, they have pledged to match members’ donations up to $35,000. Very exciting news indeed!”
The Help Keep Us Strong campaign is “a great theme,” said Greg Finlayson, President of the Seniors Association.
“Keeping our Association strong requires two things: people who want to be strong themselves, and people who want to keep the Association strong. We want the Seniors Association to be here for us and for those who will follow in our footsteps,” Finalyson said.
The target for the Help Us Keep Strong campaign is $100, which Amos admitted is “a very large amount of money to raise” – but a necessary goal, and one is much more within reach, thanks to the Larry Gibson Estate Fund.
“The Association receives only 12 per cent of its budget through government funding. The rest is raised through membership and program fees and donations. The $35,000 matching donation goes a long way to get us to our goal. We are extremely grateful to the Larry Gibson Estate Fund and its trustees,” Amos said.
The Help Keep Us Strong Campaign officially kicks off Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2019 and continues to the end of the year. To make a donation, call 613-548-7810, or go to www.SeniorsKingston.ca.
