Large quantity of tobacco seized after suspected drone drop at Collins Bay Institution

According to the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), staff at Collins Bay Institution seized packages containing unauthorized items on Sunday, Jul. 4, 2021.

The packages are suspected to be the result of a suspected drone drop, CSC said in a press release on Thursday, Jul. 8, 2021. The items seized included a large quantity of tobacco.

The total estimated institutional value of this seizure is $20,656.80.

“The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) has measures in place to prevent contraband and unauthorized items from entering its institutions in order to help ensure a safe and secure environment for everyone. CSC also works in partnership with the police to take action against those who attempt to introduce contraband and/or unauthorized items into correctional institutions,” CSC said in the release.
