L&A OPP lay impaired driving charges at two RIDE checkpoints

At R.I.D.E. programs conducted by officers of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) over the past week, two individuals were charged with impaired driving.
The first individual approached a R.I.D.E checkpoint on Palace Road in Greater Napanee at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 4, 2021. According to a release from OPP, officers determined that the driver was showing signs of impairment. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for processing.
As a result of the investigation, L&A County OPP have charged Mark Hambleton, age 58, of Greater Napanee with:
- Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drug; and,
- Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit.
Hambleton was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee later this month. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Hambleton will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
The second R.I.D.E checkpoint took place on Flinton Road and Upper Flinton Road in the Township of Addington Highlands on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021.
At approximately 1:30 a.m., officers of the L&A County OPP determined that the driver of a vehicle which approached the checkpoint was showing signs of impairment. During the investigation officers administered an Approved Screening Device (ASD) and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for processing, according to OPP.
As a result of the investigation, L&A County OPP have charged Jasmine Doef, age 46, of Addington Highlands Township with:
- Operation While Impaired – alcohol and drug; and,
- Operating a motor vehicle while over legal blood alcohol limit.
Doef was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee in November 2021. The accused’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. Doef will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
