L&A OPP charge two people for impaired driving over three days
Officers with the Lennox and Addington (L&A) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were kept busy this past weekend ensuring the roads were free of those driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Kicking off the weekend early, officers received a traffic complaint call at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, 2022. Officers responded to the complaint, which was with regard to a driver on County Road 8 in Napanee, according to the OPP. Officers located the vehicle and stopped the vehicle and, upon speaking with the driver, found grounds for arrest. The driver was then taken to the L&A OPP Detachment for further testing.
As a result of the incident and the subsequent testing, Harry Clemett, 62, of Napanee, was charged with:
- Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol
- Operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level exceeding the legal limit
The following night, LA& OPP officers conducted a RIDE program on County Road 14 in Stone Mills Township. At approximately 12 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022, a vehicle approached the area of the RIDE program, according to police.
Officers then stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver. Again, police found grounds for arrest, and the driver was arrested and taken to the L&A OPP Detachment for further testing, the OPP said.
As a result, Ryan Giddy, 33, of South Frontenac Township was charged with:
- Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol
- Operation of a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration exceeding the legal limit
Both of the accused individuals were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Napanee “at a later date,” the L&A OPP said in a press release on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2022 Additionally, both drivers’ licences were automatically suspended to 90 days, and their vehicles impounded for seven days. The accused individuals will be responsible for all related fees and fines.
