L&A OPP charge two drivers with impaired driving in as many days

Two individuals are facing charges after members of the Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to two unrelated calls earlier this week, one of which was a two-vehicle collision.
Just after 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2022, officers were dispatched to a report of an unconscious person in a vehicle on Country Club Drive in Loyalist Township, according to a release from the OPP. Officers arrived at the scene and were eventually able to rouse the driver, who was subsequently arrested.
As a result, Brooke Hegadorn, 42 years old, of Kingston, Ontario, was charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle while impaired – alcohol
- Failure or refusal to comply with a demand
The following day, Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, just before 6 p.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Shannonville Road in Tyendinaga Township, OPP said. Officers arrived on scene and an investigation revealed a motor vehicle had collided head-on with another motor vehicle. According to the release, no injuries were sustained.
As a result, Stacey Dearman, 37 years old, of Toronto, Ontario was charged with:
- Operating a motor vehicle while impaired – alcohol
- Operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limin
The OPP said that both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date. Their licences were suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.
